EXPERIENCE

Selina practices health care law at the firm's Washington, D.C. office. She focuses on compliance and litigation, including regulatory and fraud-and-abuse issues in health care. Selina's clients include hospitals, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, physicians, and other health care providers.

Before joining the firm, she clerked for the Honorable Rebecca Beach Smith in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
  • Advises manufacturers on reporting interactions with physicians and hospitals under the federal "Sunshine Act" and state sunshine acts
  • Assists health companies with compliance questions related to federal and state self-referral laws and anti-kickback acts
  • Advises pharmacies on compliance questions, including responses to state average acquisition cost surveys
  • Assists health companies with revising policies and procedures in response to emerging rules, laws, guidelines, and standards
  • Represents hospitals and health systems in administrative reimbursement cases
  • Represents a national retail pharmacy in responding to a state subpoenas investigating drug referral practices
  • Represents hospitals and health systems in compliance and fraud-and-abuse matters
  • Represents a national retail pharmacy in responding to a federal subpoena investigating the effect of a discount program on usual and customary pricing
  • Represents hospitals and health systems in government investigations and self-disclosures
  • Represented national retail pharmacies in False Claims Act whistleblower lawsuits alleging overbilling of Medicaid claims
  • Assisted health companies with due diligence on issues arising under the federal Stark Law and Anti-Kickback Act
  • Prepared voluntary disclosures of potential Stark Law violations using CMS's new Self-Referral Disclosure Protocol
  • Assisted a hospital-management company in defending and resolving a False Claims Act lawsuit involving the care provided by a behavioral health facility
